Chaney Enterprises announced the promotion of Francis H. (Hall) Chaney III, to president. Previously executive vice president, Chaney assumes responsibility for all aspects of the Gambrills, Md.-based concrete manufacturer, aggregate supplier and source of construction materials and supplies.

“Hall has clearly exhibited over his 17-year tenure at Chaney Enterprises that he has the leadership qualities, character, competence, work ethic and belief in the ‘Chaney way’ to assume the significant responsibility as president,” said former president William F. Childs IV, who will continue to serve as the chief executive officer.

Hall Chaney represents the third-generation to lead the company founded in 1962 by his grandfather, Eugene “Babe” Chaney, and later led by his father, Francis H. Chaney II, who currently serves as chairman of the board.

Reporting directly to Childs, Chaney is responsible for all aspects of ensuring Chaney Enterprises’ success and sustainability. Childs, who joined the company in 1992, became president in 1998 and was named president and CEO in 2000, will maintain full responsibility for the overall performance of Chaney Enterprises, its partners and affiliates. His efforts will be focused on strategic initiatives, national industry initiatives and relations, legislative matters and personnel development.

Chaney has been fully engaged in the industry and with the company for his entire life. His official responsibilities began in 1999 as a summer employee when his jobs included grass cutter, yard worker, sand and gravel plant maintenance, mechanic’s helper, customer service representative and dispatcher.

He began his professional career as project manager with Reliable Contracting, also based in Gambrills, Md. In 2008, he joined Chaney Enterprises as a project manager in land and development, and in 2010 was promoted and took on the responsibilities of sales and business development in the company’s northern market.

In August of 2011, he was promoted to chief operations officer, a position he held until the June 2013 promotion to executive vice president.

A resident of Davidsonville, Md., Chaney is a graduate of the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland with a bachelor of science degree in logistics and supply chain management. He also holds a master’s degree in real estate and development from the Colvin Institute at the University of Maryland.

Active in business organizations and as a community volunteer, he is the incoming chairman of the Chesapeake Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors; chairman of the Governor’s Workforce Development Board; chairman of the Maryland Transportation Builders and Materials Association, Education and Training Committee; director of the Maryland Motor Truck Association; co-founder and chairman of Anne Arundel County Next Gen Organization; and director of the Chaney Foundation.
